Worship by Pastor Paul Lloyd 11/09/2011 11am service

Job 1:20-22

20At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21and said:

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,

and naked I will depart.c

The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away;

may the name of the LORD be praised.”

22In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.

What worship is not-

-The singing part of the service

-For us, and to make us feel good

-Not optional

-Not negotiable

-Cannot be easy or lazy in it’s manner

What worship is-

1. Worship is an attitude. It encompasses our life. It is a life style. How successful you are as a Christian is how much your life is worship to God.

2. It’s completely about God, and for you.

We have already received all we will ever need by Jesus’ work on the cross.

We worship because we know God and we know what He’s done for us.

God is always previous. We only do things in response to God. We love because He first loved us. We only give back to Him what He has already given us.

Everything we do He has already given us the ability to do.

3. Worship is giving worth to someone or something.

Worshippers are powerful.

2 Chronicles 20:18- Our first response to bad news should be worship to God.

V20- Believe in the Lord and you will be upheld.

4. We can’t worship how we please.

Mark 7:8

We are to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. That means attitude, why are you doing it? Where are you coming from?

Worship Him in the right way- For Who He is, not just for hwat we can get.

5. True worship is always sacrificial in nature

Genesis 2:6- Abraham saw his mission as worship even though he was told to sacrifice  his son.

We worship because He’s worth it.

We don’t do it because we feel like it, we do it until we feel like it.

Sacrifice is something that makes an impression on you. If it doesn’t make an impression on you, it won’t make an impression on God!
